Newborn Session Details

BOOKING YOUR NEWBORN SESSION:  The best time to book your newborn session is during your 5th or 6th month of pregnancy (or earlier) to ensure I’m available when your little bundle of joy arrives.

The best time to photograph your newborn is before 2 weeks of age while they are still in that sleepy and curly stage.  After two weeks of age, they tend to be disturbed while sleeping.  They can also become colicky or baby acne can start to flare.

My main objective is to provide a relaxing experience for my clients. After session prep is done and you arrive at the studio be prepared to hand that sweet baby to me and just relax for the remainder of the session.

PREPPING FOR YOUR NEWBORN SESSION: I ask that you nurse or feed your baby 30 minutes prior to your session.  A full baby = a sleepy baby.  If at all possible try to keep your newborn stimulated a couple of hours prior to our session so he/she will be ready to fall asleep in a cuddly and warm blanket.  The best way to photograph your newborn is in their birthday suit.  Clothes tend to be bulky and awkward.

SIBLINGS/FAMILY: I do welcome sibling/family shots during a newborn session; however, I prefer sibling shots be taken at the beginning or the end of the session as the session duration is a few hours and siblings become irritated and bored.

PROPS: I supply all of the props but I welcome any props you may have.  I am always open to new ideas!  If you see something you like in any of the galleries, be sure to mention it before your session.

What to expect: Newborn photography is what I love, And I have done it A LOT. My main objective is to make sure your baby is cozy, comfortable and safe throughout the entire session. The white noise will be going, the studio will be about 80-85 degrees to help emulate the womb and keep baby perfectly at peaceful. Before your session you will fill out some information that clues me in on your preferences. (colors, poses, and props. ) When arriving at the studio, be prepared to just sit back and enjoy the session. I have a cozy parent area with coffee, other beverages, and snacks. Apple TV is available with Netflix and Hulu so parents can sit back and enjoy some quiet time.  I will feed baby during the session if you are not opposed to bringing a bottle (expressed breast milk or formula).  If you are exclusively nursing, that is perfectly fine.  We can take as many breaks as we need to keep your newborn calm.  Also, a pacifier is a great way to soothe baby during the session so feel free to bring one if your baby takes one.  The ones the hospital provides are best, they don’t leave any marks on babies face.

There will be accidents and I’m perfectly fine with that.  Almost every newborn I photograph does have an accident on the backdrops. I’m not a modest person at all and keep on rolling.  So please don’t worry about that.

Be prepared to spend 2-4 hours (sometimes less) at my studio.  It takes time to perfect each pose and provide you with a variety of images to choose from.

Once your session is booked you will receive a detailed information packet to help you prepare for your session.

10-14 days after your session we will schedule a viewing appointment to view your edited images for the first time at the studio. Be prepared to place your order at this time.
